How it all began

Looking back, Lisa and I can see God’s hand all over Inspire Church, as God has faithfully and continually increased our capacity to lead and shepherd people. From a humble beginning with just 40 church members to now thousands of attendees every weekend, Inspire Church has become a thriving community with three locations on Oahu and one location in the Philippines. I remember arriving early at Waikele Elementary School to set-up the cafeteria tables in the lunch room. Now I’m preaching in our own building with stadium seating and A/C (praise the Lord)! I look at how far Inspire Church has come, and I readily recognize that this growth didn’t happen overnight nor was it mine and Lisa’s doing alone. It’s been a long journey that many have been a part of to take Inspire to where it is today.

In 2006, while we were still a small but growing church at Waikele Elementary School, we saw the need for a giving campaign. This would be an initiative where every member of Inspire Church, what was then called Hope Chapel West Oahu, could invest in the future of their home. We imagined having our own building and gifting it debt-free to the next generation. That is what jumpstarted our first giving initiative called, By Faith We Build. We raised over $450K, enough to allow us to rent a facility in the Waikele Shopping Center, currently the biggest of our three locations on island.

As we watched the Holy Spirit provide miracle after miracle in our new facility, we knew there were still more people to be reached and more communities to be transformed through Inspire Church. This is why we kicked off Increase and Enlarge, our second giving campaign which raised over $400K. Then in 2011, we officially changed the name of our annual giving initiative to “Heart for the House”. To date, Heart for the House has raised over $6.5M and has allowed Inspire Church to purchase the Inspire Mililani campus, rent the Kaimuki High School Auditorium in Honolulu, and has allowed us to make a greater impact in our communities in Hawaii.

In 2015, we launched Kingdom Builders to encourage the spirit of financial leadership amongst our church members. The last few years of faithfully stewarding our Kingdom Builders has now morphed into what you hold in your hands today, the Inspire Foundation. Now, what was one group of people have become three groups of people: Kingdom Builders, Strategic Partners and Vision Sowers— three opportunities to make an impact through generosity.

Because of your generous partnership, we now have four locations, thousands of people have given their lives to Jesus, and a two & four-year accredited degree program to sow into our next generation of young leaders. Some would say that we have already done much, but I truly believe that this is just the beginning and there are greater works to be done, as the Church is the only hope for the world.
